The Opportunity

We are looking for a talented Head of Engineering to lead the team building Peak’s Artificial Intelligence System - a centralised system of intelligence. Think of it as ‘the brain’ at the centre of a business, powering decision-making and processes by using data to drive a competitive advantage.

The Role

We are looking for an experienced and innovative Head of Engineering to help drive the development of the Peak AIS. You’ll provide leadership and motivation to a team of leading engineers and work closely with other product owners and customers to develop industry defining AI products.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Successful development of the Peak product: the AI system.

  • Ensure the product is enterprise grade, highly scalable, secure, resilient and available.

  • Collaborate with the Head of Product and CTO to estimate and plan product roadmap development. 

  • Ensure the product vision is executed on time and that product features are meeting functional and non-functional requirements; without compromising on product quality.

  • Define and build non-functional features of the product for example IAM, Data Streaming, Integrations etc.

  • Define and implement a strategy for the development of all platforms, and their day to day maintenance.

  • Initiate and develop creative and innovative engineering processes.

  • Ensure the provision of effective and timely 2nd and 3rd line Helpdesk  support for customers.

  • Work with the Architecture team to choose and use fit for purpose cutting edge technology as and when required.

  • Track, analyse and monitor Engineering performance metrics - highlighting, predicting and addressing any areas of concern.

  • Build a world class team of Engineers in both the UK and India, in line with the headcount growth plan.

  • Develop Peak’s reputation in the marketplace as an employer of choice in the UK and India for Engineering professionals at all levels.

  • Ensure the Engineering team is structured in the best way to deliver the business goals, and ensure alignment of team and Company objectives.

  • Drive a culture of high performance (great, not good) across the team.

  • Create clear developmental pathways for Engineers at all levels to enjoy a career at Peak.

  • Coach and mentor Engineering Managers to lead their teams successfully.

  • Actively demonstrate our values, and encourage and reward values-aligned behaviour in others.

  • Utilise thought leadership and networking opportunities in the local market. Build a profile in the local community.

Required experience:

  • Leading a large team of engineers preferably in a product company.

  • Mentoring and motivating an Engineering team.

  • Collaborating with Operations, Commercial, Product and other non engineering functions to execute product and company vision. 

  • Building a product on a cloud infrastructure.

  • Ideally a background in building a product with complex functionality, API first approach. Data, Integration or AI product experience would be preferred.

  • An engineering background either as full stack engineer/architect or big data expert.

  • Experienced in the design and development of scalable and secure applications. 

  • Experience in one of these technologies would be preferred (1) Full Stack Java script (2) Big data with Scala or Java (3) AI Engineering with Python or Java.

  • Strong experience in using AGILE or SCRUM techniques to  build quality software.

  • Recruiting and organising engineering teams in order to achieve the best fit for the company.

  • Working with remote teams and different cultures.

  • Ability to take quick and collaborative decisions to move forward.

  • Strong network in SaaS and engineering world which could help with recruiting senior staff.
