The Purpose


This is a fantastic opportunity to be an important part of a successful, fast growing, tech start-up. As our Junior In-house Legal you will play a key role in supporting the Head of Legal to scale the Peak legal function to achieve our ambitious plans and help meet the challenges of global expansion. You will act as a trusted advisor, who enhances decision making throughout the company and supports the success of Peak’s strategy.


The Role


The role of Junior In-house Legal will be to support the Head of Legal to scale the Peak legal function and show the real value of lawyers in a company with a supportive and open culture.


Key Responsibilities:


  • Working closely with our Head of Legal to provide sound, pragmatic solutions to legal queries and risks, always remaining down to earth and communicating in plain English 
  • Negotiating contracts as both supplier and customer and updating a contract database
  • Assisting with company secretarial tasks including involvement in share option awards and share option exercises
  • Keeping up to date with regulatory changes and assisting with improving our policies and processes
  • Involvement in our global expansion 
  • Assisting in monitoring the protection of the company’s intellectual property, including trademarks and patents worldwide
  • Assisting as required on future fundraising and investor relations
  • Providing cross-team training as required

Required experience:


  • Qualified solicitor or experienced paralegal
  • Experience in an in-house role, ideally within a SaaS environment or if currently in private practice, experience with or secondment to SaaS clients 
  • Active involvement as a member of the team with an ability to see beyond the legal role and communicate in a straightforward way (no legal jargon!)
  • Experience in negotiating contracts with knowledge and application of intellectual property, GDPR, security information and SaaS related issues 
  • Experience of contract negotiations in other territories (e.g. US) is desirable  
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment, with a can do and positive approach and driven to learn and develop
  • A natural self starter who can work independently and as part of a team
  • Extremely organised with strong planning skills
