We want to create awesome teams and leadership, where everyone can bring their authentic selves to work and their ideas to solve the complex problems for the companies and the communities we serve.

The Opportunity

Peak is a Decision Intelligence company - we are on a mission to help organisations use AI to make great commercial decisions, all the time. Just as importantly, we are also focused on building an amazing company - one where we truly value our people & culture, and strive to make an amazing and diverse place to work. Our recent Best Companies award & 3 star accreditation for being one of the top companies to work for is a testament to this.

We have ambitious plans over the coming years; to launch and lead a new category of technology (Decision Intelligence), expand our operations and create the best working culture possible. This is a great time to join Peak and the Engineering team, as we start the next stage of our global growth.

Purpose of the DevOps role

We are creating a new market category for Decision Intelligence, and as part of that we are building our platform, the enterprise AI System, pushing to become the global market leader. As a DevOps Engineer at this fast growth scale up you'll be responsible for the infrastructure, automation, collaboration and security at Peak.

If you are a person who loves tech, enjoys building and supporting infrastructure for SaaS products in the cloud (i.e. Amazon Web Services (AWS), Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Azure etc.) there is no better place for you to be, than at Peak.

The Role

You may see some skills and experience mentioned that you aren’t familiar with yet and that’s ok - If you’re driven, curious and ready to learn new things we’re open to seeing what you’ve got to offer!

Working at the forefront of technology and getting stuck into cutting edge services (we often get early access to AWS beta release previews) means that most people are unlikely to tick all the boxes from day one. As long as you have a good background and some experience of the tools and services mentioned, and most importantly a drive and determination to learn new things quickly you’ll be ready to dive right in.

At Peak, the long term vision is about ensuring that AI is available for all, by making the workflows of Data Scientists, Data Engineers, and engineers easy! You’d get involved in things like:

  • Maintaining and securing multiple AWS Accounts, utilising 50+ AWS services.
  • Helping Product teams automate the infrastructure to support an end to end AI platform used to ingest data, explore and visualise data before simplifying deployment of Machine Learning models into production.
  • Automating security features, functionality and checks into the platform and it’s infrastructure.
  • Building scalable and reliable monitoring and alerting for the platform and it’s infrastructure.
  • Streamlining the developer workflow inside the organisation so that we can work quickly, effectively and collaboratively.
  • Helping Data Science Teams to make sure they have the best infrastructure available to do their work.

If you love tech, can help build fresh and exciting cloud-based solutions, enjoy autonomy, enjoy working without constraints to solve complex problems then this is a great opportunity for you.

Skills & Experience

  • We’re looking for someone with previous experience as a DevOps engineer or System Administrator, Site Reliability Engineer (SRE), Platform engineer or in a role demonstrating suitable similar skills
  • Hands-on experience or practice with Cloud Platforms (such as AWS, Azure, Google Cloud etc.) Scripting and automation (shell scripting/UNIX, Python, Powershell etc.)
  • Docker and container orchestration tools like ECS, Kubernetes or Mesos
  • Building and managing Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery Pipelines
  • Excellent communication skills and real team player
  • A foundation in programming and application design
  • Complex problem solving skills and ability to learn new things quickly
  • You must be somebody who keeps up to date with the latest technology and software engineering practices, so that we are not just doing it “how it’s been done before”

Any experience of the below would be advantageous:

  • Previous experience in big data tools such as Apache Spark/Hadoop, Kafka, data processing and analytics
  • Experience with Serverless concepts
  • Application and Network Security

The DevOps Engineering Team

You’ll be working with a smart and driven team of engineers, with a diverse background of DevOps, data engineering, full stack development, system administration and product support. You’ll also work closely with other teams such as Data Science and Customer Success making sure that customer operations run smoothly.

The Peak Platform

Leveraging serverless and container architecture, our platform is built for handling data at scale. Peak enables businesses to productionize AI, end-to-end, in a single platform. Insights and intelligence can be accessed via an array of outputs including in-built and custom apps, integrated via APIs and more.

You can read more about our platform on our website too.

As an AWS Machine Learning and Retail competency partner, that is where we host our infrastructure. Be ready to dive into the inner workings of the platform to debug and resolve issues, we want our DevOps Engineers to be as autonomous and self-sufficient as they can be, continuously learning and getting practical experience of our favourite technologies.
